One of the most striking experiences at Yanchep National Park is seeing Koalas in a somewhat natural environment.
There is no entry fees to the Koala park which has a stunning display of trees that are the home to over 5 Koalas. Of course there could be more, but on this particular day I was able to sight 5 very cute and cuddly Koalas.
I am not sure what is the best time of the day to see Koalas. They say they are nocturnal animals and they sleep an average of 18 hours a day. So there is a huge chance that you will see Koalas, but if it is like my experience, they will be sleeping.
One Koala caught all tourist attention. Of course, she wanted nothing to do with spectators – so with back turned, she chewed on succulent eucalyptus leaves before the others awoke. She had the right idea. I can guarantee that if I was given a head start to my favorite meal….I probably would not wait for the Calvary to show up!
If you do trek towards these cuddly hero domain, remember to take a good camera. I found that my iPhone was a little below standards…..especially when most of the furry celebrities were sleeping meters above ground!
