Sharks Bay is about 10 hours north of Perth. The trip to Sharks Bay is amazing with a transformation of landscape and temperature as one travels.
Although I have visited Sharks Bay before, on this particular visit we went with another family. We ended up driving in 48 degree Celsius (end of January) making driving with another family a lot more enjoyable and manageable.
The trip can be done in one day if you leave Perth earlier enough. We left at 4:30 am, which helped us make a big dent into the distance by the time it began heating up.
We also packed a picnic basket which allowed us to have some much needed breaks. Although our ute (pick-up) had a little more room than most cars, legs can still cramp from being squashed for a long period. Furthermore, it gives drivers the chances to rest and relax ~ the more important aspect of travelling north.
When embarking on a trip of this nature, there is a lot of planning needed. Even though we felt more prepared than any other trip prior to this one, we still made a number of BIG mistakes which I will share in hopes you it will help you with your trip to this area.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will post a number of articles about this trip which include saving money, things to see on a budget, 4 x 4 travel for beginners, and much more.
